My Approach

At the present time I can offer individual Psychodynamic Psychotherapy sessions and Group Analytic psychotherapy will also be available at a future date. My clinic works out of a base in Kemnay, Aberdeenshire. The approach is often described as a “talking treatment”, and it involves 50 minute sessions often of a weekly frequency, but others can be negotiated. If regular meetings are requested, then I can agree with you meetings on the same time and day of the week. I can consult in person or online if preferred.

Principles

Core principles of the approach include confidentiality, consistency and the building of a therapeutic alliance which can help a person explore their concerns and difficulties in a safe environment. It works with the patient bringing their thoughts and feelings as freely as they can manage into the dialogue, and as such does not rely on a set structure or agenda.

Could Psychodynamic Psychotherapy be helpful?

The approach can be very helpful for a wide range of personal challenges: these include recurrent relational difficulties, adverse childhood experiences and depression or anxiety, as examples.
